BIO
Jorge Care (1996) is a composer, digital artist, and improviser whose work bridges experimental electronic sound, instrumental performance, and the creation of light-driven concert environments. His practice is rooted in the interaction between musical gesture, real-time electronics, and spatial design, crafting immersive experiences where sound and light form a unified expressive language.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Composition) and a Master of Arts in Music Composition and Theory, major in Computer Music and Live Electronics, both from the Haute école de musique de Genève, where he studied with Michael Jarrell, Luis Naón, Gilbert Nouno, and Katharina Rosenberger. He has also taken part in masterclasses with Georges Aperghis, Rebecca Saunders, Stefano Gervasoni, Clara Iannotta, and José Miguel Fernández.
His music has been presented at Festival Archipel (Geneva), Festival KorSonoR (Geneva), the International Festival of Contemporary Music of the University of Chile (Santiago), and internationally in venues including Musiikkitalo (Helsinki), Mayhem (Copenhagen), The Horse Hospital (London), Muxikebarri (Getxo), and Thelonious (Santiago). As a performer, he received Second Prize at the Getxo Jazz Festival International Ensemble Competition with César Vidal & Artikulation Band and appeared as a guest artist at Festival JazzBer in Bermeo, Spain.

He has undertaken artistic residencies in Switzerland, Finland, and France, and has released three electroacoustic albums, two produced in Switzerland and one in the Netherlands. In 2025, he was nominated for a Premios Pulsar in the category Best Classical or Concert Music Composer for Bilis Negra – Solitude. Presented by the Chilean Copyright Society (SCD), the Premios Pulsar recognize outstanding achievements in Chilean music. At the end of his studies at HEM, he was awarded the Prix Contrechamps, which includes a commission for the ensemble’s 2026–2027 concert season. He is currently composing a new work for Ensemble Contrechamps, commissioned as part of the Prix Contrechamps.
In June 2026, he toured Europe with Des Visages, his duo with saxophonist César Vidal, presenting aleas, a performance centered on improvisation for saxophone, electronics, and light. Supported by the Chilean Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, the tour included performances in Bern, Geneva, Paris, Marseille, London, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen.
His latest work, Séismes, is a performance for vocal duo, electronics, light, and video inspired by the seismic landscape of Chile. Through the translation of real seismic data into sound and visual processes, the work explores the relationship between natural phenomena, memory, and perception.
