aleas is the second recording project by Des Visages, captured live at Dijktheater (Amsterdam) on March 8, 2026, and mixed and mastered by Nicolás Vera. The album emerged from the duo's desire to explore improvisation in its most direct sense, following the logic of chance from the very beginning: the encounter of both musicians in Amsterdam, the intimacy of the space, and the raw quality of the chosen setup.
The title derives from the Latin alea ("dice" or "chance"), reflecting the project's commitment to unpredictability. The album features three improvisations, alea II, alea III, and alea V, where every decision unfolds entirely in real time, allowing the music to reveal itself through the act of playing.
Each piece is accompanied by a video work documenting the duo's ongoing exploration of lighting and real-time video projection. In aleas, lighting was programmed to behave randomly in speed, intensity, and color, deliberately contrasting with earlier works where light responded directly to sound.
